JMIR Infodemiology Receives New Journal Impact Factor

(Toronto, ON, June 19, 2025) JMIR Publications is pleased to announce that JMIR Infodemiology has received a Journal Impact Factor of 2.3, as published in the Journal Citation Reports 2025 from Clarivate. JMIR Infodemiology is in the second quartile (Q2) in both the “Health Care Sciences & Services” and the “Public, Environmental, & Occupational Health” categories.

This achievement highlights the influence and growing importance of research into the determinants and distribution of health information and misinformation on the internet, and their effect on public and individual health.

This year’s Journal Impact Factor (2024 data) for JMIR Infodemiology reflects the high-quality research contributed by the published authors and the commitment of peer reviewers, editors, and journal staff, along with the leadership of the editor in chief, Tim Ken Mackey, MAS, PhD, professor and director of the Global Health Policy and Data Institute at University of California San Diego. 

JMIR Infodemiology also recently received a 2024 CiteScore of 6.5, ranking the journal in Q1 (#39 of 320, 89th percentile) in the Health Policy category—the journal’s top-ranked category. CiteScore is a 4-year average of citations, based on Elsevier Scopus data.

These achievements highlight the journal’s important position in the fields of health policy and population health. Contemporary issues and research about the distribution of health information and misinformation are rising in importance during a time when emerging generative technologies are widely available and information networks are increasingly complex.

This success builds upon JMIR Publications’ overall strong performance in the Journal Citation Reports 2025 from Clarivate and complements the journal’s recent achievements in the Scopus CiteScore rankings.
